This notice is to seek expressions of interest from providers who can meet the specification. NHS England wishes to commission up to a maximum of 5 providers of Mechanical Thrombectomy for Acute Ischaemic Stroke within a neuro-interventional service for acute ischaemic and haemorrhagic stroke. This Prior Information Notice is in relation to phase 1 of the implementation. Within this first phase all commissioned centres are Neuroscience Centres with access to specialised neuro-interventionists and co-located with a Hyper Acute Stroke Unit. Early implementers are required to start this service within an agreed phased plan taking into account the national shortfall of interventional neuro-radiologists. To ensure a regional cover an implementation proposal that describes the proposed service and how 24/7 cover will be provided, this can be on a single site or as part of networked coverage. The plan must be explicit about the proposed working hours and will describe how it will serve the eligible population within a five year provider implementation plan and will need to ensure all of the following: — Centres must have close working relationships and a communication strategy with their stroke centres. — All commissioned centres are Neuroscience Centres with access to specialised neuro-interventionists who conform to (or can provide a training plan to achieve compliance to) the service specifications for: Neuro-interventional services for acute ischaemic and haemorrhagic stroke which covers services for interventional neuro-radiology services.
