Summary of the work The DQ Digital Capabilities develop several different products that deliver services to Border Force and the ability to quickly develop web based apps is key to this. We are currently looking to develop more services and a Full Stack Developer will be part of core feature team to enable this. Specialist role Developer Expected Contract Length 12 Months with an option to extend up to a further 6 months Latest start date Friday 25 August 2017 Maximum Day Rate £750 ex VAT Who Speclialist Work With A multi-disciplinary agile team including UX designer, front-end developer, back-end developer, content designer, dev ops, architecture, delivery manager, product manager and service manager. What Specialists Work On The developer will be required to provide cover within a feature team that is developing several different data, web, and API, based applications and services. The Data Quality capability is a service that provides reporting and analytics on Advance Passenger Information and other Aviation based data sets to Border Force Skills & Experience • Experience of delivering data driven web applications using node.js and python – 9% • Proven experience of analysing and integrating multiple data sets in specialist domain sectors – 9% • Knowledge and experience of agile software delivery and DevOps, particularly: User story creation and management, Source control (using Git), TDD/BDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Documentation, Continuous Deployment – 14% • Experience of multiple RDBMS (Postgres, MySQL) and NoSQL technologies – 4% • Experience of Containerised applications using Docker & Kubernetes – 4% • Proven skills in developing and supporting RESTful API’s – 4% • Ability to develop data models for web based applications – 4% • Experienced in meeting the Government’s Digital Service Standards and understanding of how developers should follow best practice – 9% • Proven skills in securing web API’s, with appropriate authentication and authorisation routines – 4% • Experience in using Message Queues in a micro services architecture – 4% Nice to Haves • Airline domain knowledge • Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) database systems • Operating services in an AWS Cloud-hosted environment Work Location Main location for the work will be at Bedfont Lakes Business Park for 4-5 days, with occasional other locations being central London and Croydon. Remote working may be available where necessary. Working Arrangments We expect the supplier to be flexible to our needs and can make working with a mixed team across multiple sites effective. Off site and remote working can be accommodated, however due to security considerations this would need to be discussed. Travel to regional sites to be agreed, expenses incurred from travel outside of the M25/Greater London will be subject to Home Office Travel and Subsistence Policy. Security Clearance All staff must be SC cleared. We will ask bidders for details of key personnel, if successful the bidder will be asked for confirmation of security clearance or we will initiate clearance process Additional T&Cs The initial term of the agreement will be for 12 Months with and option to extend for a period up to a maximum of a further 6 months.
