The BBC is considering its strategy for the provision of shared storage across the BBC North campus. This is to serve the needs of content creation teams across the departments based in Salford, primarily Sport, Children's and Learning. The Post Production Shared Storage (referred to in this document as PSS) will need to securely store and allow real-time access to a range of content throughout the production process. Media resolutions will include HD TV, smaller proxy or mezzanine formats and future expansion to UHDTV. The BBC seeks to improve the ability of production teams to serve audiences with more content in a flexible manner, whilst delivering value for money. This document is a Request for Information (RFI) concerning the provision of storage (hardware, software, services and associated equipment/resources) to meet the requirements of BBC North. The information obtained from this RFI will be used by the BBC to build an understanding regarding current and future storage system offerings on both a technical and commercial level.
