Tender description

The Corporate Officer of the House of Lords and the Corporate Officer of the House of Commons (The Authority) has a requirement for: — a range of catering Light Equipment and Tableware suitable for use in our Kitchens — Back of House, Front of House and Patisserie sections, and — a range of high quality branded stainless steel cutlery crafted in the tradition of Sheffield cutlers to replace the current branded EPNS range, for use in formal dining areas and for banqueting events. Where possible the Authority is looking to identify opportunities to improve the value for money offered by this Framework. Suppliers may bid for one or both Lots and may be awarded more than one Lot for the lifetime of the contract. However, it is our intention to award Lot 1 to no less than 3 and no more than 5 suppliers and Lot 2 to a single supplier. Volumes of demand for the Goods detailed within this Invitation to Tender cannot be guaranteed. The following list of product groups is an example of the goods that may be required by the Authority, it should not be regarded as an all-inclusive list. There are recognised standards of equipment; crockery; glassware; and tableware which must be maintained to ensure the consistency and continuity of the existing collection (further detail can be found in Appendix A — price Schedule) When preparing your tender, please take this into consideration. Responses should include information regarding the products to be supplied, providing product material type, sizes etc. This Framework does not include the provision of heavy industrial equipment such as ovens, microwaves etc. Kitchen / Back of House Light Equipment: Utensils, Storage, Gastronorm, Cookware, Professional Chef's/Carving Knives, Measuring Utensils, Kitchen Crockery, Kitchen Cutlery, trolleys, Safety Footwear, Cooking machines (including Toasters, Contact/Panini Grills and Water Baths etc.), Food Preparation machines, Blenders, Spares and Accessories. Front of House Light Equipment: Crockery, Glassware, Cutlery, Trays, Beverage Dispensers, Tableware, Barware, Servery and Display Machines. Kitchen Patisserie Equipment: Bakerware, Piping/pastry Brushes, Dessert Frames, Domes, Moulds, Chocolate Work Accessories, Pastry Cutters, Flexipans, Baking Mats, Tins/trays, cake Stands and Boards. The Authority requires a range of 18/10 (18 % Chromium and 10 % Nickel) stainless steel cutlery stamped with the brand of the Houses of Parliament (the Crowned Portcullis) including knives, flatware and serving pieces in order to replace the current EPNS (silver plated) cutlery range. The range will specifically be used in the House of Commons formal dining areas and for banqueting events. The Authority is looking to make significant long term savings and therefore the new range should cost less to install and replenish than the current EPNS silver plated cutlery over the contract term. The cutlery should be manufactured broadly in keeping with the techniques of traditional Sheffield cutlery making and is expected to be manufactured from end to end in this tradition. The range is therefore expected to be manufactured substantially using traditional craftsmanship and expertise combined with some modern technology as supposed to large scale computer controlled manufacture. The branding design will be provided upon award, however, to assist bidders with the assessment of cost an indication of the required design can be found in Appendix F. Production of the cutlery is expected to commence immediately following the award of this contract, initial start-up volumes can be found in Appendix A — Price Schedule, tenderers must provide pack sizes and details for each of the products listed. It is expected that the range will be replenished on an annual basis, estimated at 10 % of the initial volumes, however, this cannot be guaranteed.
