Summary of the work Designing/providing architectural expertise, installation and initial set up for the implementation of Acuity RM Stream (including necessary licences) into an existing Hadoop architecture, as well as providing on-the-job training for the users. Work includes production and maintenance of high and low level designs and ensuring alignment with wider project direction. Specialist role Technical Architect Expected Contract Length Until 31st March 2018, extensions pending financial approval the 2 year point. Latest start date Tuesday 29 August 2017 Who Speclialist Work With Civilian and contractors within the ISS Security Infrastructure Cyber CySAFA and Joint User teams. What Specialists Work On The experts will be responsible for designing and providing architectural expertise, the installation and initial set up for the implementation of Acuity RM Stream (including any necessary licences) into an existing Hadoop architecture, as well as providing on-the-job training for the users, for a major cyber defence project. The work will include the production and maintenance of the high level and low level designs for the solution, ensuring alignment with wider project direction. Skills & Experience • A proven track record in implementing Acuity RM Stream, 25% • A proven track record in designing and implementing Hortonworks, 25% • Experience of delivering in an Agile (Scrum) framework, 10% • Have know-how of how to identify and raise project dependencies, whilst working in a wider team with multiple projects in-flight, 10% Nice to Haves • Previous experience of working on cyber defence projects, 5% • Familiarity with ARK Datacentres / Crown Hosting facilities 5% • Have ability to evaluate information and present in such a way that is easily understood by the target audience, including through written and oral communication, 5% • Have ability to own issues and drive them to resolution. Provide direction to inform sound decisions based on business priority and technical feasibility, 5% • Have ability to think creatively and be able to articulate innovative ideas to solving complex business and IT problems, 5% • • Experience working with Ministry of Defence IT systems, networks, and end user devices (MODNet, DII, CirtNet, RLI, SLI, Deployed systems) - 5% Work Location Main Building, Horse Guards Avenue, London, SW1A 2HB (for initial set up and training) ARK Datacentres, Spring Park, Westwells Road, Corsham, Wiltshire, SN13 9GB (for integration) Working Arrangments Working arrangements need to be flexible according to needs as they arise with on average about 0.5 - 1 days per week but with more intense periods during initial set up and integration periods. Security Clearance SC Clearance must be in place prior to the contract starting due to the projects worked on. SC status must be valid for the duration of the contract. DV Clearance is also acceptable. BPSS or Disclosure Scotland is not acceptable and the Authority will NOT sponsor SC Clearance. Additional T&Cs Intermediaries legislation applies to this assignment (Inside IR35), take this into account when choosing your candidate and ensure they are aware at the outset. We aim to get feedback to you within ONE week of the advert closing. The Authority WILL NOT sponsor SC Clearance, it must be in place and valid for the duration.
