Tender description

The capability should consist of an automated cell capable of using various off-the-shelf equipment to perform automated inspection procedures on a range of composite components and assemblies. Following the completion of this procurement activity, the initial technologies to be supplied and integrated into the cell are through transmission and pulse echo ultrasound (UT). A key requirement is that the cell is designed to be flexible with mechanical and control systems suitable for future technology additions and upgrades. The NCC wishes to select a prime supplier who will be capable of providing the necessary cell definition, layout, hardware, software and integration capability for the Automated Composite Integrity and Verification cell, whilst working in collaboration with the NCC. The intention is to carry out this procurement in multiple phases as detailed in the procurement documents. The NCC wishes to select a prime supplier who will be capable of providing the necessary cell definition, layout, hardware, software and integration capability for the Automated Composite Integrity and Verification cell, whilst working in collaboration with the NCC. The intention is to carry out this procurement in multiple phases. Phase 1, as detailed in this document, consists of the automation system, cell layout and the ultrasound inspection equipment. Outlines of phases 2 — 4 are provided in the appendices at this stage to assist the Prime Supplier to design a system that can extended to meet the current planned technologies. For the avoidance of doubt, we do not require the phase 1 Supplier to be responsible for procuring phases 2-4. These will be sourced separately and integrated in collaboration with the phase 1 Supplier. The Phase 1 Supplier will be allowed to bid on future phases. To provide an overview of the planned capability, the procurement phases are summarised as follows: Phase 1: The specification for the supply of the automation hardware including component positioners, control systems, ultrasonic non-destructive testing capability and any safety systems necessary within this environment. In addition cell layouts, designs and configurations and overall integration capability. The NCC's overall intention is to select 1 Supplier capable of delivering phase 1. In response to the SQ, suppliers will declare whether they are acting as sole supplier or in collaboration. The NCC has no preference on either model. Phase 2: Supply and integration support of a non-contact metrology system. This phase is currently an outline specification as it has not yet been developed sufficiently. Phase 3: Supply and integration support of a thermography system. This phase is currently an outline specification as it has not yet been developed sufficiently. Phase 4: Supply and integration support of a shearography system. This phase is currently an outline specification as it has not yet been developed sufficiently.
