Summary of the work Specialist required to work in the data migration team to identify source data requirements, assess data quality, map and specify the required transformations from the source to the target data, validate and perform trial data migration in production, cleanse data, and conduct a post implementation review of the data migration. Specialist role Developer Expected Contract Length Up to 2 years Latest start date Thursday 31 August 2017 Early Market Engagement N/A Who Speclialist Work With Specialist will be part of data architecture team working closely with the Enterprise Data Architect. Specialist will be required to work with multiple development teams and existing vendor to understand legacy and new data structures. What Specialists Work On Specialist will work on developing the Data Migration scripts, performing trial migrations and executing migration scripts, to migrate the data from legacy to new data stores. Skills & Experience • Have demonstrable experience of successfully designing and implementing data migration, data transformation, data quality, modelling, testing and post production reviews. • Have demonstrable experience of mapping source and target data models, identify gaps, data cleansing, schema modelling (Relational/XML/JSON). • Have demonstrable experience of successfully delivering digital solutions that collect and manage personal and/or sensitive information with appropriate controls and protection. • Have demonstrable hands-on experience of Kafka, Big Data, Hadoop, HBase, Map Reduce, Storm, Java, JMS. Nice to Haves • Have demonstrable experience of successfully and collaboratively working, coaching and sharing knowledge with Public Sector client teams, particularly those with limited agile development experience. • Have demonstrable experience of successfully design, implementation and migration of relational databases to Big data based data stores utilising Amazon AWS. • Have demonstrable experience of Her Majesty's Passport Office business processes and data stores. • Have demonstrable hands-on experience using SQL, Oracle, ETL, AQ, Apache Nifi, HDF, SAM. • Have exisiting, valid DV Clearance Work Location Westminster,Victoria, Fleet Street. Working Arrangments We expect the specialist to work collaboratively with existing in house project teams that are transforming the HMPO business processes/applications. Work is based in London and will involve the supplier being on site 5 days per week to work collaboratively with HMPO teams; travel and expenses remains the responsibility of the supplier. Service design and development must align with the HM Passport Office strategic technical architecture and technologies. Security Clearance DV (Developed Vetting) clearance is required. Additional T&Cs Breakpoints to assess progress and quality will be set at the end of alpha phase. Is there any travel involved in this role and will the travel expenses be paid? There may be travel involved to different regional sites in the UK and any travel required by the business will be paid. 6. What is the total number for positions open for this role There are two positions both positions are currently live on DOS. 7. Is occasional remote working allowed? No 8. What is the lead time for feedback once the application is submitted? The panel will aim to send their shortlisting results by week ending 11h August 2017.
