Tender description

UCLH's specialist cardiology service were transferred to Barts Health NHS Trust (BHT) in May 2015 under one site called the new Heart Centre., UCLH continues to see significant numbers of patients with cardiac problems either as: a primary diagnosis, a feature of other diseases or as a concurrent condition to the one for which they were admitted. Therefore cardiac services still need to be provided across the Trust. These patients tend, because of UCLH's specialist services, to have a range of higher and more complex cardiology needs than would generally be encountered in a local hospital. The provider must also be capable of providing specialist interventional services that is unable to be provided within the Trusts sites. There remains a need to provide and develop the cardiology support infrastructure for specialist services at UCLH as well as to provide a robust local hospital cardiology service. There remains a need to provide and develop the cardiology support infrastructure for specialist services at UCLH as well as to provide a robust local hospital cardiology service. UCLH requires a strategic collaborative partnership with a local specialist cardiology healthcare provider to ensure there is an increased utilisation of NHS resource to achieve efficiencies and drive innovation within central London. This service shall meet the need of local communities to deliver sustainable quality healthcare to improve outcomes and pathways for our cardiology patents. The required service has three main elements: — Inpatient ward rounds across a number of UCLH sites, — Outpatient clinics across a number of UCLH sites, — Diagnostics service. A key requirement is for the Provider to appoint a key clinical lead throughout the life of the contract to work alongside the Trust's Divisional Clinical Director in Medical Specialties to collaboratively develop UCLH's five year local cardiology strategy. The Trust is seeking a well-led, responsive, efficient and collaborative cardiology service, adding real value and tangible benefits to UCLH's offer to cardiology patients.
