Tender description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde are seeking a dynamic organisation, or partnership of organisations, that can design, deliver and evaluate creative community development interventions that will effectively address the HIV prevention and support needs of people from African Communities across the health board area. NHS GGC has previously commissioned work in this area, and a service has been developed over the past 8 years, it is therefore expected that the successful agency (or agencies) will build on this body of work and knowledge to improve and expand the reach, effectiveness and appropriateness of primary, secondary and tertiary interventions and further enhance our understanding of the target communities. It is expected that flexible, culturally appropriate and evidence-based approaches will be utilised and that the successful supplier(s) will demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of the communities in question as well as the ability to be sensitive and responsive to changing priorities and need. The successful agency (or agencies) will also play a key role in adding to our understanding of the social and cultural dimensions of Africans communities in NHS GGC and through systematic monitoring and evaluation contribute to the wider understanding of how these factors shape health beliefs and behaviours, particularly in relation to HIV prevention needs and HIV-related health behaviour. The following brief describes what is required from the successful bid and outlines the key areas of activity that NHSGG&C anticipates will be covered. It is expected that the successful agency (or agencies) will propose innovative and responsive solutions so that a comprehensive and cohesive service is delivered.
