The University of Edinburgh required a tool which specifically researched data to enable institutions to assess their researched performance from a variety of perspectives in order to establish, execute and evaluate strategies based on reliable evidence. The University of Edinburgh required a supplier to deliver against its comprehensive need of a large research-intensive institution, therefore the route for NCA was followed due to the limitation within the market. Elsevier BV is the sole producer of the SciVal database which is a research analytics tool and enables institutions to assess their research performance from a variety of perspectives, this is what the University of Edinburgh requires.
