Tender description
2.1. Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) is looking to move its infrastructure from on premise to a hybrid cloud solution. This migration is to be progressed via a phased approach. The initial priority is to move the Disaster Recovery data-centre from on premise to a cloud based solution and a project is currently under-way to enable the achievement of this objective. OCC is therefore looking to engage the services of a high quality supplier, who will deliver a fit for purpose and value for money replacement for the legacy DR and Backup solution. The current Backup Solution is based on 6-year-old tape backup technology that is no longer under support, limited in functionality and is characterised hugely by a manual and lengthy backup process. As this solution gets older the risk of failure and threat to the backup, recovery and business continuity process increases. The DR solution is based on SAN based replication and dedicated hardware to bring up services in a secondary Data Centre. This includes both server and networking provision. The Council is looking to purchase: — A backup solution that can backup off-site and recover on-site and to its DR location when needed. — New DR and Backup as a Service from a supplier with a track record and specialism in this domain. Under this arrangement the Council will look to define its own backup schedules and invoke DR as may be required with the provider supporting the process. An additional requirement would be for these 2 solutions to be delivered by a single supplier, for contract management and simplicity. However, the Council is open to a provider using subcontracting arrangements to meet the requirement. For DR as a service, the Council is looking for the ability to have an off-site location where it has its data replicated and ready for partial or full DR recovery. There is a strong preference to have the servers retain their IP address in DR as the Council has some legacy applications.
