Construction work for highways, roads

Tender description

The Council wishes to improve certain of its roads at or near Junction 10 of the M6 motorway. The Council also wishes Highways England to improve its Slip Roads which lead to and from the M6 motorway at Junction 10 and connect with the Council's Roads. Highways England is the strategic highways company with responsibility for trunk roads in England, including the M6 motorway and its slip roads. The Council wishes to improve certain of its roads at or near Junction 10 of the M6 motorway. The Council also wishes Highways England to improve its slip roads which lead to and from the M6 motorway at Junction 10 and connect with the Council's roads. Highways England wishes to replace the bridges it owns and which carry the Council's roads over the M6 motorway at Junction 10 of the M6 motorway. Highways England and the Council wish to collaborate so that the Bridge Replacement Works on the M6 at Junction 10 and the Improvement Works on the slip roads and the Council's roads can be coordinated and carried out by a single designer and contractor employed by Highways England, thereby achieving economies of scale and reducing the period when journeys will be disrupted by road works to a minimum. Highways England's responsibilities shall include: procuring the appointment of members of the Highways England professional team; enduring the designer caries out the design of the scheme; developing and maintaining the project in accordance with the project control framework; discharging its role as client/employer under the appointments of the Highways England professional team and enforcing the obligations of the Highways England professional team under such appointments; acting as Client under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 for the project; delegating necessary functions and/or obtaining any necessary consents in accordance with the consenting strategy to be agreed.
