Market Assessment of Providers for the Provision of a base Tier 2 Epilepsy Service NHS Manchester is seeking organisation(s) to deliver a community based Epilepsy service for patients registered with Manchester GPs. Epilepsy services are currently provided within secondary care Neurology by three acute trusts; Central Manchester Foundation Trusts, Pennine Acute Trust and University Hospital of South Manchester Foundation Trust. In addition there is a community based Tier 2 Epilepsy Service operating in Manchester PCTs Central Hub. The function of this Tier 2 will be subsumed into the new service. NHS Manchester are conducting a market assessment of organisations who can provide the Tier 2 Epilepsy service which must be offered from three locations within the PCT serving each of the three PBC hubs (North, Central and South). The service will provide a GPSI Service supported by an epilepsy specialist nursing service and will offer: • Triage of all referrals with confirmed or suspected epilepsy referred into the service • Assessment, investigation, diagnosis, treatment, ongoing management and review of all suitable patients referred into the service with suspected or confirmed Epilepsy. • Support for patients and careers' • Education and training for our Community nursing staff The service needs to maintain close links with the local acute Trusts and GPs. The PCT would also welcome proposals from potential providers who wish to work in partnership with the existing provider of the T2 Service.
