Tender description

As part of the Central Line Improvement Programme (CLIP) London Underground (LU) is proposing to replace the current fluorescent saloon lighting on its 92 Tube Stock (92TS) for both the Central and Waterloo and City Lines with a modern LED solution. The trains on these lines are made up of the following: — Central Line — 92TS (85 x 8 car trains); — Waterloo and City Line — 92TS (5 x 4 car trains); This opportunity will be issued in the summer of 2017. CLIP is aligned with LU's strategic priorities to ‘Keep London Moving’; ‘Keep London Growing’; and ‘Making Life in London Better’. Through installation of a modern lighting system, LU aims to improve the passenger ambience on the Central Line and the Waterloo and City Line. LU is looking to equip the saloons that serve both the Central Line and the Waterloo and City Line with LED lighting as part of CLIP. CLIP will ensure the 92TS rolling stock remains operationally sound and fit for purpose until the fleet is replaced as part of the Deep Tube Upgrade Programme (DTUP). Key considerations for the procurement are as follows: — The lighting solution will be prototyped on a test train along with other packages of works, including a new Passenger Information System and CCTV. — The mechanical integration of the lighting solution will be managed by LU, not the supplier. — The lighting solution will be installed over a period of approximately 2-3 years. — The power supply for the 92TS is -52V DC.
