Citywide Healthy Living Network

Tender description

NHS Manchester (NHSM) are inviting expressions of interest from organisations that are committed to supporting disadvantaged communities to aspire to good health. NHSM wish to establish a Healthy Living Network across Manchester that can support our aims to reduce health inequalities and improve life expectancy. The Citywide Network will build local partnerships through the early engagement and involvement of local people and those communities that represent the most disadvantaged of our population. This will be achieved by; *Raising awareness of the health agenda. *Building and sharing knowledge. *Promoting a broad view of health. *Empowering local communities to promote self care. *Improving access for programmes and services. The sucessful organisation will develop and provide a Healthy Living Network in accordance with the existing evidence base (NICE Public Health Guidance 9: Community Engagement to improve Health www.nice.org.uk/PH009). The service will provide and support 14 locally based health forums and will organise, provide and support a varied programme of health related activity at a locality level that will engage 30,000 people on an annual basis. Organisations which are interested in delivering this service should be able to demonstrate a track record of working with local communities to improve health and wellbeing, and demonstrate the ability to comply with the requirements laid out in the memorandum of information and service specification. As this is a restricted procedure all interested parties will have to complete a Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ). Those successful following the PQQ stage will be shortlisted and Invited to Tender. NHSM anticipate that the contract for this service will commence in September 2009.
