Provision of weed spraying services. Leicester City Council's Cleansing Services is a street cleaning service which is provided throughout the year in Leicester. It was initially set up in 1993 and over the years has developed into its present format, providing high quality customer/client satisfaction in the following services. Cleansing Services will continue to develop and implement change in all areas to provide a quality and cost effective service, which will meet the needs of all groups in a diverse community, working within the framework of the Authority's Policies and Procedures. The Public Cleansing Service aims to provide a litter and detritus free environment, in accordance with the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and to meet national indicator 195 standards (NI195) for the citizens and visitors of Leicester. Responsibilities include abandoned vehicles, dead animals (road kill), fly-tipping/illegal dumping, street washing (city centre) and weed control within the city boundary etc.
