Summary of the work NSoIT(D) Design - Jackdaw Agile Development Environment Systems Administrator, responsible for the day to day ICT administration of the standalone networks. Specialist role Technical Architect Expected Contract Length 9 Months with options to extend to the two year point (Pending financial approval) Latest start date Monday 17 July 2017 Maximum Day Rate We will pay up to £574.80 per day EX VAT to include agency fees. Early Market Engagement N/A Who Speclialist Work With Civilian, Military and contractors within the New Style of Information Technology (Deployed) team. What Specialists Work On Install and configure JADE computer networks and systems. Identify and solve any problems that arise with computer networks and systems. Consult with clients to specify system requirements and design solutions. Budget for equipment and assembly costs. Maintain existing software and hardware and upgrade any that have become obsolete. Monitor computer networks and systems to identify how performance can be improved. Provide network administration and support. Monitor and manage security systems and logging. Liaise with external security functions. Manage system backups. Manage, test and implement disaster recovery and resilience procedures. Conduct regular software and hardware audits as appropriate. Skills & Experience • Hold a recognised computer or network qualification at NVQ Level 4 or above- 6% • 5+ Years’ experience in network installation and administration- 6% • 5+ years Windows desktop administration, including Windows 7 and Windows 10- 4% • 5+ years of Windows Server 2012 and domain administration experience- 4% • Knowledge of active directory and setting up GPO's- 4% • Basic knowledge of common protocols: TCP, UDP, UCMP- 4% • Knowledge of common Ethernet cabling- 4% • Demonstrate hands on ability to trouble shoot basic networking problems, including IP routing- 4% • Familiarity with VPNs- 4% • Familiarity with Backup and recovery software and procedures- 4% • Basic familiarity with managing iOS systems- 4% • Basic Linux command line familiarity- 4% Nice to Haves • Professional Accreditation- 4% • ITIL Foundation- 4% • Experience of working in a military or government environment- 4% • PowerShell or other scripting background- 4% • Familiarity with Atlassian Toolset- 4% • Understand data protection requirements- 4% • Understand Health and Safety and welfare regulations and best practice affecting ICT- 4% • Good Communication and inter-personal skills- 4% • Good Organizational skills- 4% • Basic Project management skills- 4% • Ability to handle a complex delivery landscape - multiple suppliers, multiple stakeholders- 4% • Experience in providing engineering leadership of multi-disciplinary teams in large public or private sector organisations- 4% Work Location ISS, Building 405, Spur D2, Westwells Road, MOD Corsham, SN13 9NR Working Arrangments Individuals are to manage their delivery of tasks. As Design Management are only available to receive or review products during the core working week (37 hours per week) within a bandwidth of 08:00 - 17:00, individuals are to be available during that period. All tasking deliverables are to be delivered to MoD Corsham (On-Site). If 'OFF-SITE' working is required expenses will require Line management approval and up to a limit of £5k for the term of the contract. All resources will be provided On-Site, inc access to MoD’s IT systems. No utilisation of personal or company laptops will be permitted. Security Clearance Individuals will be required to hold a minimum of 'DV' clearance. DV Clearance must be in place prior to the contract starting. DV status must be valid for the duration of the contract. BPSS or Disclosure Scotland is not acceptable and the Authority will NOT sponsor DV Clearance.
