Tender description

The procurement for a new national genomic laboratory service and infrastructure for the NHS in England is expected to commence in November 2017. Mobilisation is expected to begin in April 2018 and be completed by 1.10.2018. The aim of the procurement is to consolidate and reconfigure existing genetic laboratory services and to create up to 7 genomic laboratory hubs to provide a world class resource in the use of genomic technologies for rare and acquired disease. The new national network of laboratory hubs will provide high quality, standardised and high throughput services that are equitable and cost effective as well as being responsive to rapidly evolving scientific advances. The genomic laboratory hubs will interface with the Whole Genomic Sequencing service, and support the development of the genomic medicine service in the NHS as well as the broader genomic research and innovation agenda. NHS England will be hosting 2 Market Place Engagement Events in London, on the 25.7.2017 and 27.7.2017, to outline to potential bidders NHS England's current intentions and additional information to that shared at previous events. In addition NHS England has also published a set of genomic laboratory hub requirements in advance of the publication of the full service specification. During August bilateral discussions will be held with potential bidders enabling further clarification before issuing the formal single stage Invitation to Tender in November 2017. During September and October further engagement events with potential bidders either bilateral or otherwise may be used to further define the service requirements.
