Medical gauze

Tender description

Following a review by the MOD into Haemostatic Gauzes consisting: (i) a literature review and (ii) a subsequent review by the Clinical Material Advisory Group it has been established that this requirement is capable of being met by three products; Celox Rapid, Chitogauze and Quickclot, each of which has been deemed sufficiently efficacious to meet the requirement. The review found that only these three products are supported by enough clinical evidence and experience in their use. Conventional Celox (i.e. non-rapid) has been discounted as it is obsolescent. Other products either fail to achieve the required clinical standard, or have inadequate trial data to support their use. Therefore, these three are the only products for which we are prepared to accept tenders. The successful bidder will be required to supply one of the Haemostatic Gauzes (Chito, Celox or Quickclot) as outlined in the specification. The scope of the requirement will centre on the Commodity Supplier having sufficient capability. The requirement will be for a supply of goods that is compliant to our delivery requirements this includes labelling, packaging, temperature control, pallet packaging etc. Similarly there is a requirement to prove a current distribution agreement with the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) over the life of the contract to ensure continuity of supply. The successful bidder will be required to supply the Haemostatic Gauze into our warehouse, location based in Donnington, Telford. Our total estimated annual usage is around 25 000 units.
