Tender description

This tender is for the the design, manufacture, supply and installation of 2 identical, horizontally deflecting, Double Crystal Monochromators (DCM) for use at DLS. It should be noted that these monochromators deviate from the standard fixed exit Monos in that the exit beam offset varies with energy. Each monochromator system should include liquid Nitrogen cryogenic cooling and 1 crystal set. All motors, encoders and limits should be included. The tender document gives detailed technical specifications for the DCM system, guided by the properties of the source and assessment of available technology. 2 Horizontally Deflecting Double Crystal Monochromators (DCM) are to be provided. Each individual Double Crystal Monochromator (DCM) will be procured as a complete system, subject to the performance specification. Each system comprises: 1. 2 crystals and a strain-free mount for each crystal. 2. All necessary motors, encoders, limit switches together with local cables and connectors. Also any unusual or specialised motor drives/controllers (e.g. piezo) which must be co-located with the field equipment. (All other standard stepper-type controls and cables will be provided by DLS.) 3. Each DCM will have its own vacuum vessel and connections. 4. Support structure. Each DCM will have its own. 5. Interface to beam-line services. 6. Temperature Sensors, Flow Sensor and Diagnostic design specification. 7. Sufficient spare parts with long delivery times to guarantee operation of the system with minimum down-time for a period of at least 2 years from the date of final acceptance. 8. Training for DLS personnel in the operation of the DCM. 9. A cryogenic cooling system using liquid nitrogen. The Supplier is at liberty to choose whether or not to offer a cryo-cooling unit along with each DCM. 10. Training for DLS personnel in the operation of the cryo-cooler unit if supplied. The DCMs are to be supplied ultra-high vacuum cleaned and conditioned and in a state ready for immediate installation on to the Beam-line. They are to be shipped as described in Section 8 of the Technical Specification.
