Tender description

The Contract is to redevelop the existing Market Yard site to create a multi-use space and provision of car parking spaces. The east yard, 2,800m2, is a listed structure and incorporates a gate lodge on its southern boundary and a lean-to structure in the north west corner. The yard has an entrance onto Lime Market Street and two openings onto New Market Street. The west yard, 650m2, is unlisted and has an opening onto New Market Street on its northern boundary. Two pedestrian openings are present in the wall between the two yards. The scope of the works will include: • Removal and disposal of the concrete surfacing in the east and west yards. • Creation of a central multi-use space, surfaced in tegula setts and incorporating the existing weighbridge structure. • Associated drainage lines, hardcore build-up, kerbing, asphalt surfacing and perimeter protection strip. • Works to the gate lodge to create pedestrian pathway including removal and set aside of arched window openings and paving with Tegula setts. • Miscellaneous works to the lean-to structure including relocation of weighbridge structure, installation of bollards and drop kerbs. • Creation of a new 5.5m wide vehicular opening between yards. • Construction of a new footpath, reconfiguration of entrance into the west yard, reconfiguration of exit at north east corner, east yard and configuration of single lane traffic in New Market Street. • Configuration of Line Market Street entrance. • Supply and installation of site lighting and CCTV.
