Tender description
Service for the laboratory analysis of feeding stuffs for the presence of constituents of animal origin. Laboratory analysis services. Article 7 of EU Regulation 999/2011 prohibits the use of animal protein in animal feed. However, Annex IV of the Regulation provides for certain exceptions to this prohibition. The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, as the Competent Authority for the control of animal feeding stuffs, is required to ensure strict adherence to the provisions of this legislation. Consequently inspections are carried out at all points throughout the feed chain and samples drawn for analysis by authorised officers of the Department. Commission Regulation (EC) 152/2009, as amended by Commission Regulation (EU) 51/2013 (the ‘Regulation’) sets out the official analytical method for determining constituents of animal origin for the control of feeding stuffs. The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine invites tender proposals from suitably qualified laboratories for the analysis of these samples in accordance with the Regulation to determine the presence or otherwise of constituents of animal origin.
