Tender description

The Contract involves the provision of archaeological consultancy services required in advance of construction of the proposed N22 Baile Bhuirne to Macroom Road Development; comprising: test excavations and surveys (Stage (i)); pre-excavation services (Stage (ii)); archaeological excavation (Stage (iii)); post-excavation and dissemination (Stage (iv)). These services (Contract Lot 2) are to be provided for the central (roughly) third of the road development area only, namely from the western boundary of the townland of Coolavokig (site of proposed under-bridge S10A/10B), at approximate chainage 17 460, crossing the townlands of Coolavokig, Lackaneen, Lissacresig, Carrignamaddry, Inchinilinane, Carrigaphooca, Kilaclug, Glananarig, and terminating in the town-land of Clonfaddda at the local road L7456 (approx. chainage 24 360), where the Clonfadda Overbridge is proposed—a total distance of approximately 6 900 linear metres. The N22 Baile Bhuirne to Macroom Road Development, as a whole, is to be built in west County Cork, Ireland, on lands between the town-land of Slievereagh to the north-west of Baile Bhuirne (Ballyvourney), on the western end of the scheme, and that of Coolcour to the south-east of Macroom town on the eastern end of the scheme, a distance of approx. 22 km. The scheme will bypass the town of Macroom to the north. The Lands Made Available for the Contract (Contract Lot 2) consists of greenfield and marginal lands, with a total extent of approximately 60 hectares.
