Tender description

Bedford Borough Council invites tenders for the provision of Highway Grass Verge Cutting and Maintenance Services. The Employer will be Bedford Borough Council, Borough Hall, Caudwell Street, Bedford, MK42 9AP. The aims and objectives of the project requirement as set out within the Specification is to ensure that Bedford Borough Highways Network is safe and maintained to a high standard, providing clear sight lines whilst maintaining ecological aspects of the Network with the defined Roadside Nature reserves. A) ‘Visibility Cut’ — Cut 3 times per year at full width (as shown on plans) to 100 mm height (+/- 10 % tolerance). b) ‘Swathe Cut’ — A total of 3 cuts per year — 1st, 2nd swathe cuts at 1.2 metre minimum width each side of the carriageway where there is a verge, 3rd cut will be a full width cut. c) ‘Short/ Urban Grass Cut’ — Cut 6 times per year to 50 mm height (+/- 10 % tolerance). All grass located within a 30 mph speed limit, verge cut — Mid March to Mid-November. d) ‘Environmental Cut (Roadside Natures Reserves) — September full width cut, including optional removal of arisings.
