Summary of the work The Registers team at GDS require experienced developer expertise to provide additional development and operational input to the existing team to deliver an excellent user experience. The requirement includes providing skills transfer to public servants on the team. Specialist role Developer Expected Contract Length 6 months Latest start date 9/1/17 Maximum Day Rate £760 Early Market Engagement None Who Speclialist Work With Multi-disciplinary team, mainly WebOps and back end developers, technical architect, user researchers, product managers, delivery managers, tech author What Specialists Work On "1) Development of the Open Register platform including tools 2) Operational input to the existing team to deliver an excellent user experience. 3) Support of platform including out of hours support of production platform 4) Providing skills transfer to public servants on the team. " Skills & Experience • Experience of full-stack development on open data projects using Java, Ruby, Javascript, CSS, C++, SASS and Python, Bash, Go, Node.js, Dropwizard, Ruby on Rails, Git, GPG encryption, HTML5 accessibility • Experience of using development/operations tools including: Terraform, Ansible, AWS, Docker, Vagrant, Gradle and Travis build tools, heroku • Demonstrable understanding of security principles and encryption • Proven experience of working knowledge of cryptographic techniques • Proven experience of developing infrastructure tools for open data projects • Proven experience of the process of adding features to open source software and the approach to documentation • Proven experience of administering common open source databases like Postgres • Proven experience of supporting ongoing development across multiple environments including production • Proven experience of developing and iterating multi-tenant applications and platforms • Proven experience of analysing big data • Proven experience of designing for system scalability • Proven experience of iteration based on user feedback and actively participating in user research and analysis • Proven experience of working with front end libraries and frameworks • Proven experience of development best practice and clean coding • Proven experience of working with different serialization formats such as TSV, JSON, YAML, CSV, TTL • Proven experience of implementing Google Analytics and log metrics for websites and APIs • Proven experience of writing REST-like web APIs and understanding the merits and limitations of differing approaches • Demonstrable experience working in government digital teams and delivering projects designed to meet the service standards. • Experience using the service design manual and GOV.UK template and toolkit Work Location "Government Digital Service Aviation House 125 Kingsway London WC2B 6NH" Working Arrangments Monday to Friday based in our office (currently Holborn we will be moving to Aldgate in the next 6 months) Security Clearance Minimum Baseline Personnel Security Standard No. of Specialists to Evaluate 15 Cultural Fit Criteria • * Work as a team with our organisation and other suppliers • * Transparent and collaborative when making decisions • * Have a no-blame culture and encourage people to learn from their mistakes • * Collaborating closely with colleagues in order to meet users’ needs • * Has experience of and likes pairing and knowledge sharing • * Like to work in an agile environment Evaluation Weighting Technical competence 65% Cultural fit 15% Price 20% Questions from Suppliers No questions have been answered yet.
