Contract for the Sponsorship and the Provision of Stoma Care Services

Tender description

General The requirements of the Stoma Care service includes but is not limited to the following: The Stoma Care team are a team of specialist nurses and support staff employed by Solent NHS Trust to deliver in-reach inpatient ward based assessment and care to University Hospital Southampton (UHS) and also Southampton CCG and West Hampshire CCG for adults and children undergoing new stoma procedures plus an Outpatient service in the community for adults and children discharged from hospital to provide long term care and support related to their stoma. The service currently receives sponsorship from a supplier through a formal sponsorship contract. The current contact ends March 2017 after 5 years duration. The current sponsorship contract was appointed following a formal tendering process back in 2012. The sponsorship was awarded based on what the company could offer the Trust and service. Within the current contract, there is no requirement from the service to provide any information, data or recommend solely sponsorship products. The incumbent supplier currently does give the service sample products free of charge as part of the sponsorship contract. These products are given to inpatients on formation of the stoma and supplies are given on discharge from hospital. The service will only commence patients on partnership supplier products where this meets their clinical needs. Post discharge, the GP would then continue to prescribe the supplies for the patient based on their continuing needs. At present the service also use the delivery service from the supplier known as Charter. We would prefer the delivery service to be provided by an unconnected supplier to the main partner but innovation and reassurances on legality by the chosen partner may resolve this concern The contract will be put in place for 3 years plus 2 annual extensions
