Charter of Vessel PAM Survey

Tender description

The Marine Institute, a semi State body, wishes to charter a suitable research vessel capable of carrying out a passive acoustic monitoring (PAM) survey in waters along the continental shelf edge off the west and south-west coasts of Ireland. The charter is for a period of up to 10 days with mobilisation from Galway Harbour and demobilisation at a suitable Irish port in the South/South-West. The charter is required in order to survey for cetaceans as part of the ObSERVE-Acoustic project. The vessel must be at least 20 metres in length and capable of towing a 400m hydrophone, as well as supplying power to the topside hydrophone equipment. The hydrophone will be supplied by the Marine Institute and the vessel must have a suitable winch or capstan to enable its deployment, towing and recovery. The survey will also include visual observations by scientific crew on board.
