Tender description

Newport City Council (NCC) is inviting tenders from suitably qualified and established waste management contractors with experience of wood waste recycling markets to collect and process all types of mixed wood waste arisings from the authority's Household Waste Recycling Centre (Civic Amenity Site), Newport, NP20 2NS at a suitable licenced contractor facility, as detailed in the contract documents. The contract is for the supply of all labour, vehicle(s) and equipment required to execute the works. Note: The authority is using eTenderwales to carry out this procurement process. The contract is for the supply of all labour, vehicle(s) and equipment required to execute the works. For the purpose of this tender ‘All types of mixed wood waste’ means — Civic Amenity type waste wood, all grades from municipal and household sources including clean (untreated) and dirty (treated) wood, wood cuttings, hardboard, chipboard, furniture, doors, pallets, panel board, MDF and other wood based/ like products. These materials may have items such as brackets, handles, hinges, screws, nails and other fittings attached. The contractor is required to process all the materials received. An aim of this contract is to achieve the maximum levels of recycling and reuse of all collected and processed wood and wood based / like materials to appropriate end markets in accordance with the ‘Waste Hierarchy’, and to minimise the amounts to RDF, EfW, incineration and disposal to landfill. Based on historical data, NCC requires in the region of 2 500 tonnes per annum of waste wood to be collected and recycled. Note: The estimated contract value below is for the initial 5 year contract period only. Should the contract be extended to its maximum duration, the estimated contract value would be 960 000 GBP.
