Swansea University has recently secured funding from the Welsh European Funding Office and the Welsh Government's Department for Health and Social Services in order to build portfolios of intellectual property and commercialisation opportunities across the Welsh NHS, at Swansea University and beyond. The Program, AgorIP, will run until 31.12.2020. In order to deliver the required outputs from this Program, Swansea University will need to be able to call upon a single Provider to deliver specialist support from a range of commercially experienced Mentors and potential Commercial Leads to work alongside academic, clinical and other innovators to help structure, fund and ultimately commercialise discrete opportunities. The Program, AgorIP, will run until 31.12.2020. In order to deliver the required outputs from this Program, Swansea University will need to be able to call upon a single Provider to deliver specialist support from a range of commercially experienced Mentors and potential Commercial Leads to work alongside academic, clinical and other innovators to help structure, fund and ultimately commercialise discrete opportunities. This support will take various forms as set out in the particulars below. Swansea University requires the flexibility to be able to call upon these services as required, according to pre-agreed terms and conditions. The purpose of this tender is therefore to procure appropriate services which can identify, recruit and administer the provision of mentors and commercial leads who are capable of working with very early stage commercial opportunities and turn them into commercial realities. The Project Manager, reporting to the Director of AgorIP within the University's School of Management, will be responsible for deploying the procured Provider for projects funded under this initiative. The project terminates on 31.12.2020. The University will reserve the right to procure services from other organisations where, for example, we believe unique specialist skills are required, where they are mandated by funders of University research or where we perceive a potential conflict of interest. Having identified intellectual property opportunities at an appropriate stage of development, AgorIP will work with the Provider to seek to: 1. Identify a Mentor/ Commercial Lead who has market and commercial experience relevant to an opportunity. 2. Engage the Mentor/ Commercial Lead in an early stage assessment of the market opportunity and assess their ability to work with the opportunity originator(s). 3. Subject to satisfactory performance, further engage the Mentor/ Commercial Lead in shaping the opportunity and position it for investment as a new company or as a license to a 3rd party. The Provider will be required to interview and select the Mentor/ Commercial Lead and agree with the AgorIP team the suitability of their experience and aptitude for association with any individual opportunity. Furthermore, the Provider will administer the recruitment and administration of the appointment of the Mentor/ Commercial Lead.
