Catering is required at Needham House to encourage three objectives for the residents and general public: 1) Nutrition and Wellbeing 2) A sociable activity 3) Giving pleasure and structure to the day There are 47 apartments at Needham House which will be occupied by older people (over the age of 55). These residents are not required to use the communal catering facilities but the provision of activities in the communal area will encourage them to use this space regularly. In addition, the communal space is open fully (9am – 5pm) to the general public (and possibly later as the scheme develops) to use the restaurant and attend the activities being provided. Meeting spaces are also provided in the communal area and Council staff and other local businesses will be encouraged to use these spaces for their meeting – if catering is required it will be provided by the kitchen at the Scheme. Basic Spec: 1. To run and manage the kitchen at Needham House 2. Operating hours – This can be a phased approach a. Intention that kitchen will provide a meals service 7 days per week for breakfast, lunch and evening meal 3. Meals service to develop in line with the requirements of the local area a. Minimum provision to include i. food = soup, sandwiches, paninis, basic hot meals (shepherd’s pie, jacket potatoes) – examples only ii. drinks = coffee, tea, soft drinks iii. snacks = cake, crisps, granola style bars 4. Catering to commence at scheme opening (forecasted 26th June) 5. Kitchen has been fully fit out (spec attached) a. Caterers to provide saucepans, knives, mixers etc. 6. DBS checks required on staff due to vulnerable nature of residents Keywords: Catering
