The University of Leeds has identified a requirement for a Multifunctional Scanning Probe Microscope. This project will be a new, state of the art multifunctional low temperature SPM with added capabilities — some of which will be developed in collaboration with the manufacturer, such as near-field magnetic imaging, microwave application at sub-Kelvin MFM or scanning nano-SQUID technology. This facility will comprise multiple probes for microscopy, imaging at the micro- to nano-scale in magnetic fields of several Tesla and down to cryogenic temperatures. using a wet-type cryostat. It must also be possible to simultaneously inject current (up to 0.1A) and measure voltages while scanning.
