Tender description
NHSBT has a requirement for a fully automated system on a single stand-alone instrument, offering a triplex screening assay for HBV DNA, HCV and HIV RNAs and assays for WNV and HEV RNA specifically intended and CE marked for donation screening. The system will have the capability of discriminating any triplex screen positives and be able to handle screening runs ranging from 1-100 samples. Expected usage is approximately 5 000 - 8 000 tests per year, although this could double if NTMRL undertake HEV screening. NHSBT has published a PIN in October 2016 under OJEU Reference: 2016/S 205-370348. During the pre-engagement it became apparent that the market is currently limited to one supplier only that is able to meet NHSBT's requirements for this tender. Therefore NHSBT will be awarding a new 4 year agreement for the supply and support of the molecular screening assays to Grifols UK Ltd.
