Tender description

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) is seeking for appropriate suppliers to design, implement and transition its relevant Data Centre services to a new virtualised infrastructure. Provide a Managed Service to support and maintain such services and facilitate the migration of the services to alternative locations if required. This PIN has been issued in order to advertise the opportunities to the market and seek expressions of interest from suppliers that may wish to take part in the associated tender(s). This Prior Information Notice (PIN) is not a call for competition for the purposes of Regulation 26(9) of the Public Contracts regulation 2015 — a specific call for competition for this planned procurement is likely be published by means of a contract notice in or around June/July 2017. The purpose of this PIN is an early notification to the market of GMP's intention to publish a contract notice for these services in the next few months. GMP is committed to improving technology to enable staff to work more effectively and efficiently, the IS Transformation Programme (ISTP) have, and will continue to introduce new technology to support core operational policing. This includes how users will experience IT as part as their roles alongside building a better IT infrastructure to be more dependable and flexible in the future. Much of GMP's existing infrastructure is built on ageing technology and requires transforming into supported configurations using modern virtualisation techniques. GMP has committed to delivering a Target Operating Model for its Information Services function and as part of this requires the future Data Centre services to be provided by a Managed Service partner as part of this procurement. The contract value is approximately between 12 000 000 GBP to 17 000 000 GBP. It is anticipated that contract will be awarded to the successful contractor in late 2017. A maximum of up to 5x firms will be will be shortlisted and invited to tender.
