Tender description

ATEX directive 137 and the resulting legislation, Safety, Health & Welfare (General Application) Regulation 2007 (S.I. 299) Part 8 (Ireland) and Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmosphere Regulations (DSEAR) 2002 (UK), set out the legal requirements for identification, zoning/classification, ignition prevention, formal assessment of explosion risks, and the preparation of EPD (Explosion Protection Document) for areas where there is danger of an explosion. The existing EPD documents across the Generation Portfolio are now overdue a comprehensive review and updating, to include a fresh area classification assessment and the updating of existing Atex zone drawings. Additional works required include the development and/or updating of the equipment register, equipment compliance study and initial maintenance inspection in accordance with the standards BS EN 60079.
