Tender description

Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (SUHFT) have identified the requirement to commission a new Data centre. This will be located on the hospital premises and will eventually replace the Trusts current data centre. SUHFT currently runs its ICT operations from one main Data Centre located on the hospital premises. This Data centre is not purpose built and is a single point of failure, so there is a need to establish a new data centre and then decant equipment and services to the new data centre. We now wish to engage with suitably qualified and experienced providers to help us approach the market in the most effective manner, as we seek to engage a partner to design and build this new Data Centre. This PIN is for the design and build of the Data centre to accommodate up to sixteen (16) racks of IT infrastructure including building infrastructure, resilient mechanical and electrical installation (cooling, UPS, PDUs, fire suppression systems, security), specialist racking and design and consultancy services. All IT infrastructure equipment and services commissioning is excluded from this PIN and will be managed by the Trust. Step 1 — Interested providers will be required to complete a short questionnaire and a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). Further guidance for providers is included in this questionnaire. Providers who complete and return the questionnaire and NDA may be invited to meet with hospital representatives to discuss its requirements. Completed questionnaire and NDA must be returned electronically by email no later than xxxxx. Step 2 — Providers who are invited to the meeting will have information pack sent to them prior to the meeting. These meetings are likely take place during week commencing xxxxxx. The information pack contains broad information on: — Proposed location of the new data centre. — Facilities and IT services specifications such as power and data cabling infrastructure. — Overview of equipment that will reside in the data centre. — General contractual information. Once the soft market testing exercise is completed we will make a decision about the new Data Centre. If we decide to proceed, then this would be undertaken with full regard to our legal obligations. For example, the exercise would have to comply with public procurement regulations, which would be likely to involve an EU-compliant tender process. Neither the intention nor the purpose of this soft market testing exercise is to confer any advantage upon its participants in any future procurement process.
