Tender description

North of England Commissioning Support is working for and on behalf of NHS — England (Yorkshire and the Humber) who wish to commission Community Dental Services for the whole of the Yorkshire and Humber area. We invite responses from the market for information to assist us with the design and structure of the contract tender, in particular to help us determine appropriate footprint for the service provision, financial envelopes for the tendered contract, the service model under development taking in to account the national documents ‘Guides for Commissioning Dental Specialties — Special Care Dentistry and draft Paediatric Dentistry’ and to help us identify specific areas of risk relating to the tender. The aim of the CDS will be to improve the oral health and reduce the oral health inequalities of people in Yorkshire and The Humber and Bassetlaw who have a physical, sensory, intellectual, mental, medical, psychological and/or emotional or social impairment or disability or more often a combination of these through: — Providing high quality consultant-led paediatric and special care dentistry to children and adults. This will include children with more complex dental needs. — Providing high quality dental care to people from vulnerable groups whose needs may not be accommodated in NHS general dental services — Through a period of transition during the starting years of the contract, transfer patients with lower levels of complexity assessed using the case mix tool into NHS general dental services so their care can be managed by primary care dental teams — Deliver in the community setting high quality care for prisoners from Hatfield and Lakes prison (Hatfield prisoners only) and residents at Askham Grange. The Community Dental Services will work closely the relevant clinical networks, commissioners and primary and secondary providers to ensure appropriate timely, effective and safe Community Dental Service for the treatment of the eligible local population. Work via the clinical networks to take part in the development of the Referral Management System.
