Tender description

The DPS will cover services commissioned under the NHS Standard Contract that exists between the NHS Trusts in Somerset, the Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group and other associate commissioners. The DPS is for use by NHS Trusts in Somerset, for the provision of clinical service providers to support waiting list initiatives and ad-hoc service capacity issues. These initiatives tend to be required at short notice. Health providers deliver NHS funded clinical services under the terms of the NHS Standard Contract. It is becoming increasingly common for health providers to sub-contract delivery of certain clinical services to a third party. This subcontracting can take many forms. It can be the sub-contracting of an entire service or of delivery of part of a care pathway. It can be the sub-contracting to 1 sub-contractor or to multiple sub-contractors. Information can be found at https://www.england.nhs.uk/nhs-standard-contract/17-18/ The clinical specialities/services included may be, but are not limited to: Orthopaedic surgery (Joints — hips/knees and hands), Urology, General Surgery, Maxillofacial surgery Ophthalmology, Phaco-emulsification cataract extraction and lens implant, Audiology (hearing tests), Endoscopy, Lithotripsy, Termination of pregnancy, Radiology services (MRI and Cardiac MRI scans, Duplex Scanning). Histopathology reporting. Mini competitions will be run from the Dynamic Purchasing System which will reflect the specific clinical service requirements and award criteria in order to ensure that the sub-contract provider will: — Meet quality requirements, — Meet relevant conditions from Terms and Conditions of the NHS Standard Contract, — Reflect the NHS price for the service, — Provide assurances that they are capable of delivering the agreed service requirements that have been set, — Comply with any referral protocols.
