Tender description

NHS Arden and Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit on behalf of NHS England — West Midlands (the Commissioner) is seeking to gain a greater understanding of the potential market to inform future commissioning of Community Dental Services. The Community Dental Services (CDS) in the NHS England (West Midlands) Local Office serve 10 local authority areas — Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Herefordshire, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall, Warwickshire, Wolverhampton and Worcestershire — with a population of 4.1 million people. At present the scope and the scale of services vary between the ten local authority areas. All of the Community Dental Services provide an element of paediatric dentistry and special care dentistry. In addition, they may also provide: — Oral surgery, — Orthodontics, — Domiciliary care, — Sedation services, — General anaesthetics for children (extraction only or comprehensive care), — General anaesthetics for adults (extractions only or comprehensive care), — Dental Public Health services for Local Authorities (Epidemiology and Oral Health Improvement). The dental services may include care at Level 1, 2 and 3.
