Methley Bridge to Fairies Hill Lock Cycleway

The Methley Bridge to Fairies Hill Lock scheme forms part of the wider Castleford to Wakefield Greenway project that will create a fully surfaced off-road cycle route from Castleford to Wakefield with links to the Castleford Greenway and Methley Junction. It runs adjacent the River Calder and creates an important missing link that is currently too muddy to traverse. The works involved are the creation of a surfaced path from It runs along the south bank of the River, involves upgrading of a footpath and access road where existing and creation of a path in other locations. It also includes ramped links up to the cycleway to be created along the old Methley Lines alignment (Castleford Greenway extension). The route will be constructed in line with the latest Sustrans guidance and will enable people to walk and cycle year round. Keywords: Cycleway, Construction
