Tender description
Rotherwas Royal Ordnance Factory Frontline Duty Project Rotherwas was the site of a munitions factory in WW1 (N.F.F. No.14) and WW2 (R.O.F No 4. Hereford). The Rotherwas ROF – Front Line Duty Project is a Heritage Lottery-funded project based at Herefordshire Archive and Records Centre (HARC). Its purpose is to mark the contribution of the munitions workers (most of whom were female), to create a digital archive and to hold a number of community events. To do this, we require £1500 as match-funding for the project , but, in addition, we would like to put on a production of The Canary Girls by Paul Murray (as yet unfunded) towards the end of 2017 . It was last performed in 2014 at The Courtyard in Hereford to great acclaim, but we would like to put on this production actually in Rotherwas this time, inviting Rotherwas workers of today, especially women, to take an active role in the production. Many of us know of someone who worked at Rotherwas as the workers were not just locals; they came to work at Rotherwas from all over the country, even Ireland. The recent ‘The First Shell’ exhibition held at HARC attracted over 700 people who specifically came to see it. We have also had family members of workers contact us from all over the world. We are working closely with other community groups too. We would like to offer you the chance to be a part of the project and we have a range of sponsorship opportunities that you may be interested in helping us with to fund events, provide items and personnel. For further information, please contact: Angela Williams, Rotherwas ROF Project Officer Tel: 01432 260750 Email: rotherwasrof@herefordshire.gov.uk Let’s make this happen and recognise the contribution and sacrifice of the workers of Rotherwas munitions factory and the effect it has had on Herefordshire.
