Wakefield Council is reshaping the way in which weight management services are delivered within the district by procuring the Weight Management Service — Clinical. The Service is split into the following lots: 1. Dietetic Service; 2. Psychological and Counselling Service; 3. Consultant in Metabolic Medicine; 4. Physiotherapy Services. The estimated total value stated includes additional funding to allow for fluctuations in demand of Service Users accessing the Service. The Council is unable to guarantee that this additional funding will be used nor predict which lot it will be applied to, demand will be based on the needs of the Service Users accessing the Services. The Service Provider will work with Service Users using a person-centred approach, supporting them to make dietary and lifestyle changes that are realistic, achievable and that can be sustained in the long-term. The Service Provider will work with Service Users using a person-centred approach to enhance and promote psychological well-being where obesity is a cause of poor mental health and where poor mental health is a cause of obesity. The Service Provider will be responsible for the clinical assessment and management for obesity-associated metabolic health conditions or complications due to obesity and to support weight loss. The Service Provider will work with Service Users using a person-centred approach, supporting them to make changes that are realistic, achievable and that can be sustained in the long-term. The Physiotherapy Service will support people in the management of associated conditions including (but not limited to) the following: Arthritis, back pain and other musculoskeletal and chronic conditions such as heart disease.
