Summary of the work Architect owner overseeing the delivery of strategic capabilities for HMPO's transformation, working closely with in-house Agile delivery teams delivering cloud hosted open source solutions. Specialist role Technical Architect Expected Contract Length 12 months Latest start date 06/04/2017 Maximum Day Rate £710 Who Speclialist Work With You will work as part of a Technical Design Authority who are responsible for specific domains. HMPO is moving from a large outsourced SI arrangement to an in-house, largely cloud based and open source based solutions delivered iteratively. Legacy technologies inc Oracle and Tibco. Strategic technology stack is based on Microservices architecture including Java, Node JS, ELK, Postgres, MongoDB, AWS. What Specialists Work On Work Packages include: 1. Acting as the lead architect for specific capabilities. 2. Guiding the creation and evolution of the architecture of the solution that the team is working on. 3. Ensuring the solution will be easy to support by encouraging good design and refactoring to minimize technical debt. 4. lead identification and determine strategies to mitigate key project technical risks. 5. Leading the initial architecture envisioning effort at the beginning of the project and supports the initial requirements envisioning effort (especially evolving the non-functional requirements for the solution). Skills & Experience • Have in-depth experience of defining and implementing target and transition architectures for Mission critical legacy transformation projects • Understanding of agile environments, continual delivery techniques and dev-ops cultures • Have in depth experience of cloud architectures and best practices • Understanding of how to influence senior management and communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences • In depth experience of defining NFRs • Experience of Microservice architectures • Experience of Open Source • Knowledge of HMPO systems or similar government operational systems Work Location Westminster Working Arrangments Typically on-site, working with the TDA and the Agile Delivery teams Following assessment of the requirement using the HMRC tool, this role is considered to be outside of IR35.
