Tender description

There is a potential requirement for a product that can be used to assist in situations where individuals require help to communicate, be that due to disability, not speaking the same language or other potential barriers. This exercise is being conducted to assess whether a suitable product is already in existence within the market or if there is potential to develop something to fulfil this need. This needs to be a physical product, not in a digital/software based format. Please refer to additional information section for questions. The National Offender Management Service (NOMS) is seeking to establish what resources are available to support foreign national prisoners who have difficulties communicating with other prisoners and members of staff. NOMS is interested to identify resources currently on the market that use visual aides and/or provide basic translation to foreign languages frequently spoken, to stimulate communication and support daily life for prisoners who do not speak English, or who have other barriers to communication. Products should not rely on digital platforms and should be in a format which would enable prisoners and staff to interact during daily activities. Potential requirement for 20 000—30 000 copies based on providing these to staff within FNP-only prisons, Immigration Removal. Resources that are already developed and have been tested or have evidence of their effectiveness are of primary interest. There is no guarantee that this will develop into a future business opportunity.
