Steps to Work are looking for an organisation that can deliver community based skills development — related activities and/or employability — related activities to people who have visual impairment. Activities must support participants who are unemployed or economically inactive in any district (Tamworth, Cannock, Lichfield and East Staffordshire). The programme is funded by the Big Lottery and the EU European Social Fund. Steps to Work is seeking an organisation to join it and its existing partners to deliver the Building Better Opportunities programme in Staffordshire. The programme involves helping those who are unemployed, but want to get back into work, prepare for work, make the most of their skills and abilities and provide support to overcome any barriers by offering a variety of services tailored to individual needs. The programme will have a specific focus on people who are most at risk of social exclusion. This includes, but is not limited to people who are 50 or older, people living in areas of high unemployment, people from BAME communities, people living in single-adult households and people with caring responsibilities. The services may include: 1) a holistic assessment of an individuals needs and individualised action planning, 2) activities to help with things like confidence building and motivation and soft skills such as communication, interpersonal and analytical skills, 3) CV writing support and guidance, 4) job search support, 5) the provision of employment and training activities, 6) support to develop new skills, 7) the provision of ongoing support for those who progress into employment.
