Market Engagement - Active Travel Hub in Stockton

Tender description

In January 2017 it was announced that the Tees Valley Combined Authority had been successful in its bid to the Department for Transport’s Access Fund. This will provide funding from April 2017 to march 2020 to deliver a new package of measures that are designed to grow the economy by boosting levels of cycling and walking and by improving access to jobs, skills, training and education. Stockton Borough Council has responsibility as part of the successful bid to procure the service of an Active Travel Hub in Stockton to provide a focus for cycling and walking related activities. The project includes funding of £205,000 (£85k in 2017/18, £60k in the following two years) for an organisation or group of organisations to deliver an Active Travel Hub in Stockton town centre in a building supplied by the Council. Broadly the hub will need to offer cycle parking (Mon – Fri), guided cycle rides and walks, an advice service on walking and cycling, bike recycling, cycle maintenance training and bike MOT’s.
