Tender description

The School of Life Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at University of Nottingham is responsible for the teaching of anatomy to our student and trainee Doctors. The School use bequeathed cadavers in the teaching of medicine and is a strong advocate of the principle that working with real human bodies provides the best teaching experience for our students. This tender invites expressions of interest in the main aspects of the service that we wish to purchase for suitably dignified and reverential disposal of cadavers: Collection of bequeathed bodies and their delivery to QMC and the provision of suitably prepared coffins, transportation from QMC to a place of rest and management of the associated arrangements. The School respects the wishes of the deceased and their families and considers it to be a privilege to have access to human remains. Our treatment of cadavers therefore must reflect the highest standards of care and we are seeking a partner who will work with us to deliver this promise to our bequeathers, their families and our students at all times. Secondly, we must also demonstrate that we are prudent and careful stewards of our funds and resources; we are seeking a partner who can deliver appropriate service levels and demonstrate excellent value for money.
