Tender description

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks are looking to source a 3-phase voltage regulator which can be installed as street furniture e.g. at the side of a footpath, to control the down stream voltage. To make better use of existing installed low voltage network assets; with the increasing use of embedded generation within GB, the regulator needs to be capable of providing both buck (decrease in voltage) as well as boost (increase in voltage). The regulator also needs to be able to adjust the target output voltage depending on the power flow through the regulator producing an increased output voltage when feeding power to customers and producing a reduced voltage output voltage when feeding power back in to the DNO network. It is expected that the regulator will be located at a point between 25 % and 50 % in to the network measured from the sub station end.
