Tender description
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade invites tenders from service providers to pilot a short educational programme for young members of the Irish diaspora which would take place in summer 2016. In March 2015 ‘Global Irish: Ireland’s Diaspora Policy’ was launched. Included in this policy was a commitment to pilot an initiative with the working title ‘Fréamhacha’, which would provide an opportunity for young people of Irish descent to strengthen their links with Ireland through a short immersive visit of 2-3 weeks in duration. The Department is issuing this call for tenders in order to select a service provider who would administer this programme. The overall aim will be to bring a small group of (approximately 20) US high school students of Irish descent, who have never visited Ireland, on a structured visit to Ireland which will form the basis of a deeper engagement with the country of their ancestors.
