Tender description

ECMWF as the Entrusted Entity for the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) will issue a number of tenders on Observation Gridded Products to establish a service delivering a series of gridded long-term Climate Data Records (CDRs) of Essential Climate Variables (ECVs), along with the associated input data and user support functions. CDRs are defined here as a time series of measurements of sufficient length, consistency, and continuity to determine climate variability and change. The CDR production service aims to generate a portfolio of CDRs covering up to 30 ECVs by 2020 to support a variety of C3S services, ranging from the monitoring of climate change (and its impact) to long-term prediction and sectoral applications. This service tender will be focusing on the following first batch of ECVs, and associated parameters, grouped by Lots addressing Oceanic, Atmospheric and Terrestrial domains. Lots are as follows: — Lot 1: Sea Ice; — Lot 2: Sea Level; — Lot 3: Sea-Surface Temperature; — Lot 4: Ozone; — Lot 5: Aerosol Properties; — Lot 6: Greenhouse Gases (carbon dioxide and methane); — Lot 7: Soil Moisture; — Lot 8: Glaciers and Ice Caps; — Lot 9: Albedo, Fapar and LAI; The contract for each Lot shall be for 24 months. It is expected that this phase will lead to an operational production activity for the remaining duration of the initial C3S Service, ending mid 2021. However, this is not included in the scope of this ITT. Estimated cost excluding VAT: Range: between 900 000 and 4 610 000 EUR.
