National Smile Month (NSM) is a national campaign which runs from 16th May – 16th June 2016 which aims to raise awareness for good oral health. Leicester has the worst levels of decay in pre-school children in the entire country; to address this we have our ‘Health Teeth, Happy Smiles!’ Programme http://www.leicester.gov.uk/healthyteethhappysmiles. Each year we plan a series of events to engage with local communities and to raise awareness of the importance of good oral health. This year, the theme for our NSM campaign is ‘First dental check-up before 1st birthday.’ As part of our campaign this year, we will be hosting open photo-booth roadshows across the city so children and families have the opportunity to come and talk to us about oral health, and take away an oral-health themed fun photo as a souvenir.
